What is AVID?
AVID’s mission is to close the achievement gap by preparing all students for college readiness and success in a global society.
AVID is an elective class and program that helps students prepare for college and career pathways, with exploration activities, field trips, team-building, study skills, and more! Students are encouraged to take all 4 years, but can apply to join the program at any grade level.

- 2.0 or higher GPA
- Good attendance
- Good behavior record
- First in their family to attend collegeTypically low-income and/or first-generation
- Teacher recommendations are encouraged

- Select AVID as an elective on your pre-registration form
- Complete the NSHS AVID application
- Return completed application to your counselor
- NSHS AVID coordinator will review and reach out with any additional application steps
